We're a small, independent family practice, which means there's always time to focus on you as an individual. At Thyme Dental we take time to understand your medical, dental & emotional health before we look at your teeth, as we know there is a close connection between good oral health, nutrition and overall wellbeing.
We focus on regular preventive dental care, carefully selecting biocompatible materials that take into account your sensitivities. We have a holistic approach to treatment, working closely with medical and complementary therapists, including naturopathic nutritionists, to improve your wellbeing.

What we do
Everyday dentistry, done thoughtfully
General practice care alongside the things people usually come to us for. Call us if what you need isn't listed — we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right practice for it.
Biological Holistic Dentistry
We look at wellbeing, diet and lifestyle alongside your dental health, working with medical and naturopathic practitioners to optimise your overall wellbeing.
General restorative dentistry
We undertake regular routine examinations, fillings, extractions, crowns and bridges. The preventative care essential to maintain oral health, using biocompatible materials selected individually for you.
Gum health treatment & maintenance
We undertake routine scaling and more extensive periodontal treatment where gum disease has taken place. Poor gum health is closely associated with poor systemic health, so it's essential to focus on achieving good gum health.
Cosmetic dentistry
We can improve patients' confidence dramatically using a range of minimally invasive techniques, such as composite bonding, whitening and tooth straightening. Some treatments can achieve a significant enhancement in one visit. We're trained in the Bioclear method for composite bonding, a modern technique for a more natural, long-lasting finish. We also offer Boutique Whitening.
Amalgam removal
Amalgam fillings contain mercury and other metals. We're a mercury-free practice and remove old amalgam fillings using the safe SMART protocol, to ensure your wellbeing throughout. We work with functional nutritionists to advise on pre- and post-operative detoxification. Our protocol follows guidance from the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology.
Nervous & medically compromised patients
Sally has a great deal of empathy and has helped many nervous, phobic and emotionally sensitive patients over the years. She also has an interest in the elderly, and helps them maintain their oral health despite disabilities. Please let us know when you contact us if you have additional needs, so we can adapt to make your visit more suitable for you. We can also arrange domiciliary visits.

Sally Harvey-Hendley
Practice Principal, Dental Surgeon
Sally qualified at King's College London in 1988 and spent many years in general practice, taking on a wide range of treatments and numerous postgraduate courses along the way. Her interest in naturopathic health and individual patient care led her to set up a holistic dental practice of her own, and she qualified as a dental homeopath in 2012. After relocating to Poole for family reasons, she set up Thyme Dental — a small, independent holistic practice focused on the wellbeing of each patient. Her particular interests are restorative and cosmetic dentistry, functional dentistry and naturopathic health, gum treatment, and treating nervous and medically compromised patients, including the elderly. Outside the practice, Sally enjoys walking, renovating and building restoration, the countryside and family life.

Dr Anthony Newman
Medical Lead, General Medical Practitioner
Tony qualified at the London Hospital Medical College in 1982 and has spent the last 40 years in general medical practice in Poole. He brings a wealth of medical experience to Thyme Dental, advising the clinical team as appropriate. In his spare time, Tony enjoys walking, history, golf and family life.

Tracy Aston
Dental Nurse
Tracy started dental nursing in 1997 and qualified with her National Certificate from NEBDN in 1999, going on to work in both NHS and private practice. She takes a genuinely patient-focused approach and enjoys every side of dentistry. She moved to Bournemouth from Hertfordshire in 2024 for the coastal living, and outside work enjoys upcycling furniture, other arts and crafts projects, and socialising with family and friends.
